Colony 29 is site of Cielo Vista Charter School's 3rd Annual Benefit
Picture
Colony 29, a historic artist colony of the 1930s, is the site of this year’s Cielo Vista Charter School Benefit. The event will offer a rare look behind the gates of this now privately owned venue, which has become a popular television production location and photo shoot backdrop.

The 3rd annual fundraising event runs from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on January 26, 2014. Tickets are $50 per person and include hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, as well as guided tours of the lush estate grounds that stretch up to the majestic San Jacinto Mountains. Located at 147 South Tahquitz Canyon Way, Colony 29 includes a maze of stone pathways that meander between the six homes that once created a village for pioneer artists. The seven lush acres includes desert flowers, exotic palms, fruit trees and grape vines among unexpected amenities such as a cast-iron outdoor tub, stone massage table, tree house, fire pits, and more.

The benefit will include a silent auction, raffles, plus a showcase of professional and student artists demonstrating their crafts. Principal Lynda Lake will present Community Partner Awards to outstanding supporters of the school.

Cielo Vista Charter School is a dependent public school of choice and part of the Palm Springs Unified School District. As a charter, the school is open to all students (subject to availability) and tuition-free, however the Cielo Vista community is responsible for raising about one-quarter of the school’s annual budget. Cielo Vista Charter is governed by an independent board of directors, which includes Mark Anderson, David Baron, James Cioffi, William Kleindienst and Frank Tinney.

Sponsors for the event include Colony 29, Sammy G’s, Coachella Valley Brewing Company, Scott Niwa, and Buzz Factory. Additional sponsorships are still available.

For tickets to the Cielo Vista Charter School Benefit go to www.cielovistacharter.com or call 760-699-2939. The event is organized by the Cielo Vista Charter School Parent Teacher Group, which is a registered 501(c)(3); donations are tax-deductible. Money raised will support student enrichment and classroom supplies.
