Mrs. Perezchica was born in Palm Springs, California. Her educational journey started at the age of five within the classroom walls of Cielo Vista Elementary School. It was there where she knew that she would pursue her passion for education. Mrs. Perezchica earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and she holds a master's in educational leadership from California State University, San Bernardino. In August 2007, Mrs. Perezchica was hired by Palm Springs Unified School District as an elementary teacher. It was at Bubbling Wells Elementary School that she discovered her passion for leadership. She served as grade level chair and helped transform the lives of many. In January 2011, Mrs. Perezchica was asked to join the staff of Cielo Vista Charter, as a 6th-grade teacher. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with a group of talented and dedicated educators. In 2014, Mrs. Perezchica was awarded Teacher of the Year. Because of her dedication to students, and her unique ability to reach all students in the classroom while maintaining the high levels of rigor that the Common Core State Standards demand, she was asked to leave the classroom and become Cielo Vista Charter's academic coach. In 2015, she left the classroom and began to serve her community in this new capacity. During this time she provided professional development opportunities to her colleagues in a variety of areas, including classroom management, classroom engagement, cross-curricular teaching, and best first instruction. Mrs. Perezchica’s focus was on mastering the understanding of the new standards, which aided her in effectively training staff to create instructional materials that aligned to the rigor of the new standards. During her time as an academic coach at CVC, she was asked to join the Riverside County Office of Education and train other educators in Riverside County. She joined the county and provided them with professional development while still serving as CVC's academic coach. In April 2018, Mrs. Perezchica was hired as the new assistant principal at Cielo Vista Charter. She is a champion for all teachers and children and strives to bring out the very best in them each day. She strongly believes that there is no job better than serving as a school administrator. She feels that each day is different, and children are a constant source of amazement and innovation. Mrs. Perezchica believes children are a joy to work with, and she finds watching them learn and grow to be extremely rewarding. She feels CVC is truly a fantastic place to work. The CVC board, families, co-workers and students are always supportive. She is committed to ensuring that all children receive the most rigorous instruction, and that they can independently think critically while serving as active members of their communities. She is proud to work at such a wonderful, family-oriented school where all staff as well as students are continuously challenged to be their best.
Jessica Parent is the Assistant Principal at Cielo Vista Charter. An immigrant from Mexicali, Mexico, she became the AP three days prior to the California school closures and has successfully helped lead her school during an unprecedented time. Jessica has been with PSUSD for 16 years. Jessica Parent was recognized as a Riverside County Semi-Finalist Teacher of the Year in 2019. Before becoming an AP, she was instrumental in building the middle school program at CVC TK-8, including Student Council and Leader In Me. Her greatest contributions and accomplishments in education come from her passion to do everything in her power to inspire and ensure that all students are provided with the equitable resources and opportunities to be college and/or career ready. Jessica started the first CTSO in PSUSD: HOSA Future Health Professionals. She also mentored other HOSA and JUMP advisors across the Coachella Valley. Jessica worked with different career academy teams, and the AVID program. She started her career as a high school teacher in which she discovered her uncanny ability to see the leadership potential in all students, and to recognize often hidden “star power” among the students she has been fortunate enough to work with. Mrs. Parent is a servant-leader that is looking to inspire and empower our school community. I am Maria Pimentel-Jaimes, also known as Mrs. PJ. I was born in Los Angeles, California. Both of my parents were born in a rural town in Michoacan, Mexico where resources and education were scarce. Neither of them completed an elementary school education due to living in poverty and having to work to help support their family. As a result, they opted to immigrate to the U.S. in the late 70s in search of better living conditions and opportunities. Knowing this made me value my education even more, and I was driven to pursue a college degree. As the eldest female of six children, leadership has come naturally to me. I was the one sought after to hep my parents and siblings in all that was necessary in our household. In 2000, I graduated from Cathedral City High School and attended UC Riverside for my undergraduate studies and teaching credential program. In 2005, I started my career as a Kindergarten teacher for the Moreno Valley Unified School District, where I taught for two years. In 2007, I joined the Palm Springs Unified School District as a 4th-grade teacher at Della S. Lindley in Thousand Palms. Since 2010, my professional teaching experience has been at Nellie N. Coffman middle school, where I have taught Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math. Additionally, I was the Associated Student Body (ASB) Program Director and Advisor between 2011-2017. Before starting at CVC, I taught 6th-grade Math and Science and was the Advisory Program Lead. In the spring of 2022, I fulfilled my long-time goal of obtaining a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. I am a lifelong learner, and I am always seeking new ways to do better in all aspects of my career to help serve the community. One of my main goals as an educator has always been to build strong relationships with parents, staff, and students in order to exceed expectations! I am grateful and excited to be part of such an amazing school and look forward to serving everyone at CVC. Together we can do more! |
